Hello everyone! We (WebStorm team) want to briefly update you on the critical performance issues you’ve encountered with the IDE in the past two releases. I'm sorry for this rant, but it had to be said, maybe it is also an impulse for some who want to switch to JetBrains, that right now is probably not the best time for it. I have switched from VSCode to Webstorm, but as it looks, I will probably become a VSCode user again, for us in the company Webstorm has now become simply unusable, and we can not just remove some modules from our production software and then hope that this works. These noticeable degradations are registered as bugs in YouTrack since end of 2022, so far not a single fix appeared. Joking aside, the current situation is really awful, and all solutions coming from Jetbrains are either "don't use this and that module" "downgrade to a version that works" or "change this and that setting and hope it works then". (In winter it was quite ok, if you coded for a longer time you could almost use the PC as a heater). Just editing a string leads to 100% CPU usage and constant lags. I primarily use WebStorm and in the last months the quality decreased so much, every update made everything worse and worse. The full list of changes is available in the release notes.Īnd as always, please feel free to report any issues you encounter to our tracker or here in the comments. What is currently going on with JetBrains, usually I was always used to super quality, but the last few months are. Fixed: Rename of a promoted property does not change parameter name in another file.Fixed: No type inference on instanceof = false.Fixed: Xdebug: “Cannot get property” (since PHP 8.1).Fixed: Code style formating for php “Chained method calls” -> “Place ‘ ’ on new line” does not work correctly when assigning to variable.Added: Shortcut for switching editor tabs switches projects tabs on Big Sur.Added: Ability to generate file name of file templates.Fixed: IDE freezes and hangs when indexing WSL projects. Also, you can download it from our website. You can update to this version from inside the IDE, using the Toolbox App, or using snaps if you are an Ubuntu user.
